History recorded as Kenya makes it to the World Cup
Kenya recorded a new history on Sunday 16th June 2024.The Under 17 ladies team got a chance to participate in the Women Under 17 world cup after thrashing neighbors Burundi 2-0 in a second leg match.In the first Leg of this match Junior Starlets emerged with a 3-0 win.
The match started on a high note from the hosts.Lorna Faith hitted the side net on the first minute of the match.The defense line of the Junior Starlets remained solid.Lorine Ilavonga and captain Elizabeth Ochaka led the defense line.
Burundi made the first attempt in the seventh minute.Marion Serenge gave Kenya the first goal on 17th minute.
The Junior Starlets pressed the game.They appeared at the visitor’s goal side severally.On 21st minute Valary Nekesa gave Kenya the second goal.The first half ended 2-0 in favor of the hosts.
However,the match ended in a 5-0 aggregate.Kenya under 17 women’s team becomes the first ever Kenyan football team to qualify for world cup.African giants heading to world cup are Kenya,Nigeria and Zambia.
The 2024 Under 17 Women’s World Cup will be played in the Dominican Republic between 16th October and 3rd November 2024.
