Erick Otieno Ouma, better known as Marcelo, is a Kenyan-born footballer who now plays for the Swedish club AIK football.

Erick Marcelo Ouma was born in the Kibera slums in 1996. A ghetto that ranks among the largest in Africa. He went to Kakamega High School with the intention of elevating his talent to a higher level.

From the slums of Kibera to wealthy status.

Erick Marcelo Ouma’s life and football adventure would not have been possible without his hard work. Given the fact that he was born into an impoverished family in the Kibera slums.

Erick could play football barefoot in Kibera, hoping that things would improve for him one day. Because of his exceptional abilities, he was noticed by Kakamega High, which granted him a scholarship for free high school education.

While in Kakamega, he continued to work hard and won multiple prizes with the green commandos. This earned him a spot on the 2015 Gor Mahia FC roster.

His international breakthrough came when he was offered a contract with Kolkhetti poti in Georgia. 

After successful seasons, Erick Marcelo Ouma received multiple offers from prominent clubs due to his elegance and amazing game skills, but he explored signing with an Albanian club called KS Kastrioti. He later received another offer from Sweden club Vasalund, where he spent a few fixtures before agreeing to a record-breaking transfer fee to join AIK football club in the Swedish top-tier league.

While in Sweden, Erick Marcelo won several trophies and drew interest from a number of major European clubs, including Brighton and Hove Albion and Leicester City football club.
