Detectives based at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters have intercepted a motor vehicle believed to have been used in a series of house breaking incidents in the Syokimau area.

The interception followed a mid-morning car chase with thievery suspects in the Kasarani neighborhood of Nairobi.

The successful pursuit and subsequent interception of the vehicle led to the recovery of several suspected stolen properties, in response to numerous complaints filed by victims. Most of the break-ins occurred during daylight hours, causing alarm among residents.

Circulating on various social media platforms, CCTV footage captured the detained vehicle, a white Toyota Vanguard, bearing fake registration numbers, being used by the suspects during their criminal activities.

To apprehend the suspects, a well-planned sting operation was executed by a team of detectives from the DCI’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau. They caught up with the suspects at Roasters area in Kasarani. However, the occupants of the vehicle defied orders to stop and evaded arrest by speeding off towards Baba Dogo, prompting the police to initiate a high-speed chase.

The pursuit eventually led the suspects to abandon the vehicle in the Ngei Estate before fleeing on foot. The abandoned car, bearing registration number KCX 030P, was discovered to have altered registration plates, primarily using the fake registration number KCJ 530C in most of their thievery operations.

Upon further investigation and search of the recovered vehicle, the detectives found a significant cache of stolen items. Among the recovered possessions were five TV sets, including three Samsung, one Vitron, and one Amtec TV. Additionally, a PlayStation 5, a Lenovo laptop, crowbars, metal hooks, a bunch of keys, and several number plate stickers were also discovered.

The DCI detectives have meticulously documented the recoveries and preserved them as crucial exhibits in the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, an intense pursuit to apprehend the suspects who managed to escape and identify any potential accomplices is currently underway.

Residents of Syokimau and surrounding areas can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that law enforcement agencies are making significant strides in tackling the rise in house breakings. The DCI is committed to ensuring that those responsible for such crimes face the full force of the law and that stolen properties are returned to their rightful owners.
