    Dennis Oliech named official CHAN 2024 ambassador Role unveiled during breakfast event with Sports Ministry CS Mvurya says the move honours local football legends Oliech expected to boost fan support and national pride Harambee Stars debut this Sunday against DR Congo Oliech Chosen to Represent Kenya in Style Kenya’s football icon Dennis "The Menace" Oliech has officially been named the Pamoja Brand Ambassador for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The announcement was made on Friday during a special breakfast meeting at Kasarani, where former Harambee Stars players gathered with Ministry of Sports officials, led by Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya. Government Sees a Symbol of Unity in Oliech CS Mvurya praised the decision, calling it a powerful way to celebrate Kenyan football heroes while energizing support for the national team. “As the ambassador, I believe he will rally Kenyans behind the team to inspire Harambee Stars to perform well during this CHAN,” said Mvurya. A Football Legend With Deep Roots Dennis Oliech is no stranger to the game. With 34 goals in 76 matches for Kenya, his legacy includes unforgettable moments—like his famous goal in 2003 against Cape Verde that sent Kenya to the 2004 AFCON. From Mathare United to Al-Arabi, and European clubs like Nantes and Auxerre, Oliech’s journey has inspired many young players. CHAN 2024 Kicks Off Across East Africa The month-long CHAN 2024 tournament starts this Saturday, hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Tanzania faces Burkina Faso in the opening match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Kenya’s Harambee Stars will make their tournament debut on Sunday at Kasarani, going up against two-time champions DR Congo under new head coach Benni McCarthy.
