Embattled Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa is back in office.

On Tuesday September 20, Mwendwa and members of the federation opened Kandanda House for the first time ahead of the Elite football tournament that is set to be played at the Kasarani Annex.

The FKF offices were closed on November 11,2021 following the directive by outgoing Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage Amb. Amina Mohamed.

A Caretaker Committee was formed to oversee transition and the running of football affairs in the country and it was later replaced by a Transition Committee that has had a torrid time in ensuring that normalcy returns in local football. The Transition Committee’s mandate expires on October 16 and as expected, the FKF office bearers will return to their normal duties.

All has not been rosy for the transition committee with uncertainty over when the league begins and court cases making them almost ineffective.

On Monday September 19, the Transition Committee through the head of secretariat Lindah Oguttu announced that the FKF Premier League has been postponed due to the upcoming inter-parastatal sports tournament, KECOSO.

In a letter Oguttu said,”Please note that due to the upcoming KECOSO games in which several 2022-23 FKF Premier League clubs are scheduled to participate, the start of the 2022-23 FKF Premier League season has been postponed to Saturday, October 1,2022.”

With the FKF officeholders reclaiming full control of affairs, it will be interesting to see who runs affairs in the coming days.
