4,000 Kenyans Travel to NyegeNyege Festival in Uganda

At least 4,000 Kenyans are expected in Jinja, Uganda, this weekend for the Nyege Nyege festival whose dress code is ‘thou shall not show no skin.”

The festival, which has taken place in Uganda since its inception in 2015, was at risk of postponement or total abolition a few weeks ago as Uganda’s legislatures led by the Speaker questioned the moral benefit of the festival.

However, the thought of immoral dollars that will be trickling in from the East African region and beyond seems to have knocked sense out of the opposing camp.

Kenyans know how to chase the party and chasing they have with at least 4,000 of them expected at the festival where sex, music and alcohol will be at plenty. They also have that extra advantage of the strength of the Kenyan shilling so we wouldn’t be surprised if they a few with investment mind come back with some title deeds.

Tanzanians are not left behind as some 1,500 of them will make the journey, alongside 500 Rwandese. Tickets for the whole event which culminates on Sunday were going for UGX 250,000 Ugandan shillings, approximately Ksh 8,000.

The #NyegeNyege2022 is happening in Jinja this weekend. If you see us there, please let whatever happens at NyegeNyege remain at NyegeNyege.
