What Matiangi Said Before Deleting His Once Powerful Twitter Account

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i was one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s most powerful lieutenants, so much so that it sometimes felt like he was the second in command especially after Uhuru’s fallout with then Deputy, now President William Ruto.

Matiang’i ruled his docket with an iron fist, attracting lovers and haters in equal measure. He was a fearless supporter of Uhuru and later Azimio leaders Raila Odinga during the campaigns and it was a known fact that he alongside other Cabinet Secretaries would fall if Baba did, and he did, and so did they.

His impact was felt both offline and online, his Twitter account of over 1.3 million followers dwarfing a majority of his peers in the UhuRuto government.

However, all his Twitter followers were left asking questions, making comments and throwing puns as it went blank on Tuesday afternoon after William Ruto took the oath of office as the fifth president of Kenya.
