Chelsea Fire Boss Tuchel after Dinamo Shocker

Chelsea Football Club have announced the sacking of their boss Thomas Tuchel following last night’s shocking Champions League defeat away to Dinamo Zagreb.

The German tactician took charge of his 100th game as Blues boss when they traveled to Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb.  An early goal from striker Mislav Orsic, who scored a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League last season, was enough to down the Londoners who were blunt in attack and barely troubled the Croatian champions.

Victory over West Ham in the Premier League on the weekend had Tuchel expectant of starting their Champions League group campaign in style. However, despite starting with debutant Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang in attack and tinkering with the squad the whole match, Chelsea fell to a third straight away defeat, the first time it had happened under Tuchel.

There has been disquiet among the fans on whether Tuchel was the right man to move the team forward under the new ownership of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital consortium. Brighton boss Graham Potter is believed to be the top runner to succeed Tuchel who will probably be not out of job for long.

Tuchel replaced Stamford Bridge legend Frank Lampard in January 2021 after spells with German sides Mainz and Borussia Dortmund as well as French champions Paris Saint-Germain. He guided Chelsea to their second Champions League title in his first season in charge but were ousted in the quarterfinals by eventual champions Real Madrid last season.

They also lost the League Cup final in a dramatic penalty shootout against Liverpool.
