From singing SDA hymnals in, wait for it… Ekegusii dialect, to greeting locals, praying and wishing them well and hitting the campaign trail with her husband, it is fair to say that Governor Simba Arati’s Chinese wife, ‘Kwamboka’ is living the life at the home of ‘matoke.’
Kwamboka prefers to live a private life but with a husband who is taking huge strides in his quest to become the defacto Abagusii kingpin, it’s inevitable that there will be people nosing around especially on who stands behind this successful man.
The Guv’nor
Arati was declared Kisii Governor-elect during the August 9 elections with a landslide win of 270,928 votes, beating his challenger Ezekiel Machogu of UDA who came in second with 82,104 votes.
Kwamboka, a mother of two, occasionally accompanied her husband on the campaign trail and once stole the show at a political rally in Kisii as she joined her husband in singing a SDA hymnal, their body language giving no doubts about their adoration for each other.
Arati met his wife-to-be while studying Business Management at Guangzhou University, China. While seeking for the Gubernatorial seat, Arati was labelled ‘immature’ by his opponents, forcing him to parade his wife. The detractors however did not stop as they wondered why he didn’t marry a Kenyan wife and instead went for a lady ‘Made in China.’… and then he won.
Loving he is to his wife, Arati, so much so that he has been quoted saying he has never cheated on her.
Slay Queens not welcome
”She helps me, I have never cheated on her. Handling one woman is already difficult so why should I have more. I don’t entertain slayqueens or funny women,” Arati is quoted to have said in a previous interview.
‘Sometimes they (slayqueens) throw themselves at me, but I politely decline their advances, because for someone who hold a political office, they can be easily used to bring you down, he added.
