Kitui county governor Hon Charity Kaloki Ngilu says that the rise of Roots Party presidential candidate Professor George Wajackoyah has halted the popularity of DP Ruto led Kenya Kwanza Alliance ahead of the upcoming August 9 general elections and with the serious entry of Wajackoyah Ruto might finish distance third.

According to Ngilu, Ruto’s team is losing strongholds as Wajackoyah is now taking shape in age groups they previously claimed to have had immense support.

“It’s not so much the Azimio surge & consolidation of key bases. It’s also the rapid momentum with which Kenya Kwisha are ceding ground they previously comfortably occupied like Mt Kenya,” Tweeted Hon Ngilu via her offiial twitter account.

“Even Wajackoya is now threatening their assumed key demographic of 18-30 and partakers of weed,” she added.

This comes days after recent opinion polls conducted by InfoTrak placed Azimio-One Kenya Coalition presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga ahead of his Kenya Kwanza counterpart William Ruto with a 4 per cent margin.

In the survey check released on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, Odinga led with 42 per cent in popularity with Ruto coming second with 38 per cent.

The survey group however says the former Prime Minister would garner 9.3 million votes and Ruto 8.4 million votes and none of the two horses would meet the ‘fifty-plus one’ constitutional requirement.

The Infotrak head revealed to why polls DP Ruto dropped in popularity and related it with the naming Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate, while the ODM party leader maintained his 42 per cent lead.
