TikTok has given most people especially youths the platform to showcase their talents and earn money from their art. Kenyans have also not been left out of this platform as the country enjoys a good number of TikTok users and TikTok sensations who are not only famous in Kenya but also in other countries.

How to earn from TikTok

There are several ways in which one can make money from TikTok. The following are the most common ways that someone can make money from the now growing social media platform.

  • Earning from the TikTok creators fund. TikTok introduced a creators fund to support its creators and to encourage more creators to join the platform. The fund is given if a creator reaches a given threshold required by the company.

What one must meet in order to start benefiting from TikTok creators fund.

Have at least 18 years old. Any creator looking to earn from TikTok must be at least 18yrs old. This is the age where one is allowed to enter into a contract in most countries.

You must have at least 10,000 followers on your TikTok account. If you have an account with less than 10,000 followers, then you will have to work hard enough to reach this level before your account is monetized.

Your videos must have gotten at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days when applying for the monetization. As opposed to YouTube where one requires 4000 public watch hours before being monetized, TikTok only requires a total of 100,000 views in the last 30 days without looking for watch time.

The account you are looking to monetize have must abide with TikTok rules and regulations. There are rules and regulations set by TikTok which they need all creators to abide by. These rules include the community regulations which dictates language and dressing code one should use in the platform, if you break any of these rules then your account won’t be monetized.

After making sure that your account reaches all these requirements, you will have to request monetization then wait for your request to be verified. After the verification, you will start earning from the platform.

Most of Kenyan creators don’t earn from the TikTok creators fund because the service mostly apply to creators from United States, United Kingdom, Spain and Italy. Some Kenyan creators with more than a million followers however still earns from this platform’s creators fund.

The following are the only Kenyans Benefiting from TikTok creators fund;

Vick Brandon

Brandon has gathered a following of 3 million on the platform so far. The dancer has 552 posts earning an average of 8,170 hearts (likes) per video. His videos has an engagement rate of 0.30%. Brandon earns an average of 1,620 – 2,700 dollars per post.

Azziad Nasenya

Azziad rose to fame because of her viral utawezana dance, from then, the young TikTok sensation has risen to become the second most followed TikTok creator after Vick Brandon. Azziad is at 2 Million followers so far with 990 posts. Azziad receive an average of 21,800 hearts per video and she has an engagement rate of 1.21%.  Azziad therefore earns 1080-1800 dollars per post from the TikTok creators fund. 

Note that the amounts listed above are just estimated amounts judging by the number of followers, hearts, posts and engagements. The real earning is private and the creator rarely reveals.
