Kenya is mourning the loss of David Njuguna Kiaraho, the long-serving Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou, who passed away on Sunday.
The legislator died while undergoing medical care at The Nairobi Hospital, bringing to an end a political journey that spanned over a decade.
Kiaraho first entered Parliament in 2013 and went on to win two more terms, making him one of the experienced lawmakers in the National Assembly of Kenya.
During his time in the House, he played a role in shaping policy through various committees. In his latest term, he served in the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
Away from politics, Kiaraho had built a solid career in architecture. He worked as a Principal Architect at Archgrid Systems, where he contributed to projects in the private sector.
His professional background added a technical perspective to his work in Parliament, especially on matters related to infrastructure.
Following confirmation of his death, Moses Wetangula announced the formation of a special team to organise the late MP’s final rites.
The committee will be led by Kwenya Thuku, with Faith Gitau serving as assistant, alongside other members tasked with coordinating with the family.
Kiaraho’s death marks the end of a long chapter of public service in Nyandarua County and the country at large.
As leaders and residents come to terms with the loss, tributes are expected to pour in, reflecting on his contribution both in leadership and in his professional field.
