- Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed a planned youth visit to his Ichaweri home.
- His office says the group did not follow official communication procedures.
- A statement was issued by Kanze Dena, Communication Secretary in the former president’s office.
- The retired Head of State says he supports dialogue but wants proper arrangements made in advance.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta will not host a youth group that had planned to visit him at his rural home in Ichaweri, Gatundu, Kiambu County.
In a statement released on Sunday, his office confirmed that the meeting cannot go on as expected. The communication explained that there was no formal request made through the proper channels.
Kanze Dena, who serves as Communication Secretary in the Office of the 4th President, clarified that the visit had not been formally communicated.
According to the statement, the former Head of State is not in a position to receive the group under the current circumstances. The office advised the youth to follow the correct process in future to allow smooth planning and coordination.
Even as the visit was declined, Uhuru Kenyatta signalled that he remains willing to engage with young people and other groups.
The statement noted that he values respectful conversations that promote unity and understanding. It further emphasised his belief that discussions between older and younger generations are important for the country’s future.
The former president’s office encouraged anyone seeking a meeting to communicate early enough to allow proper arrangements.
While the planned youth visit has now been halted, the message from Ichaweri remains clear: engagement is welcome, but it must be organised in a structured and dignified manner.
