Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has declared that his main priority is to serve Kenyans and strengthen the government’s development agenda ahead of the next General Election.
Speaking on Sunday in Kariene town, the DP said he is firmly focused on assisting President William Ruto to secure a second term in office.
Kindiki made it clear that he is comfortable in his current position and has no plans to step aside. He added that once their second term is complete, they will then consider the next political step.
The Deputy President addressed residents after attending the induction and installation ceremony of Bishop Doreen Mwathe at the Abothuguchi Synod of the Methodist Church of Kenya in Kirigara, Central Imenti, Meru County.
He used the opportunity to outline his development-focused approach, saying leadership should be about results, not endless political talk.
According to Kindiki, experienced leaders understand the right time for politics and the right time for work. He dismissed attempts by critics to draw him into daily political debates, insisting that service to the people comes first.
The Deputy President said the government is pushing to complete major projects in Meru County before the next elections.
Among the projects already underway are several road constructions across the region. He also confirmed that the upgrade of Meru Referral Hospital to Level 6 status is progressing as planned.
In addition, the redesign of Nithi Bridge is set to begin soon. The construction of Gakoromone Modern Market is ongoing and is expected to become the largest market in the country once finished. Completion plans are also in place for Mariene University.
Kindiki emphasised that what will matter most to voters is the work delivered on the ground and the impact it has on their lives.
On the economic front, the DP said government policies are beginning to show positive results. He pointed to a drop in fuel prices, noting that petrol has reduced by four shillings.
He explained that fuel costs have been gradually declining since 2022 due to interventions introduced by President Ruto’s administration. He added that other economic indicators also show that the country’s economy is stabilising.
The event was attended by several leaders, including Meru Governor Mutuma M’ithingia, Deputy Governor Linda Kiome, Central Imenti MP Kirima Ngucine, Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi, and County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi, among others.
