- Tottenham have reached out to Liverpool over a possible move for Andy Robertson.
- The defender’s contract runs out at the end of the season.
- Robertson is seeking more game time ahead of the World Cup.
- No agreement has been reached between the two clubs so far.
Tottenham Hotspur have made an initial move to explore the signing of Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson. Talks between the two Premier League clubs are understood to be at an early stage, with no final decision taken yet.
The 31-year-old defender is nearing the end of his contract at Anfield, making his future a major topic as the season progresses.
Robertson has struggled for regular starts this season, featuring only a handful of times in the league. With the World Cup on the horizon, the Scotland captain is believed to be keen on a club where he can play more consistently.
He recently came off the bench in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Burnley, highlighting his reduced role in the current setup.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has publicly praised Robertson’s attitude, especially after losing his regular place to summer signing Milos Kerkez. Despite limited minutes, the veteran defender remains respected within the squad.
If Robertson were to leave, Kerkez would be the only senior left-back available. Sources indicate Liverpool could respond by recalling Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma.
Spurs already have several options in the left-back position. Destiny Udogie has been the first choice this season under manager Thomas Frank, while Djed Spence provides additional cover.
Tottenham also confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Souza this week. However, Ben Davies has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after suffering a broken ankle, which may have pushed the club to explore more experience in that role.
Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 for a modest fee and went on to become a key figure in one of the club’s most successful eras. He has made over 360 appearances and lifted nine major trophies, including Premier League titles and the Champions League.
As talks continue, the coming weeks will be crucial in deciding whether his next chapter remains at Anfield or begins in north London.
