Jiji, Africa’s fast-growing online marketplace, has added another major milestone to its journey after winning the Best E-Commerce Platform award at the 2025 Digitally Fit Awards (East Africa edition).
The award ceremony took place in Kampala, Uganda, bringing together digital leaders, innovators and key players shaping the region’s online economy. The recognition places Jiji at the top of East Africa’s e-commerce space, highlighting its growing influence in digital trade.
Jiji Kenya’s Chief Financial Officer, Donald Obonyo, received the award on behalf of the company.
In his remarks, Obonyo pointed to the people who have powered Jiji’s rise.
“We are honoured to be recognised as East Africa’s Best E-Commerce Platform for 2025,” he said. “This award belongs to every seller who trusted us, every buyer who chose us, and every team member working behind the scenes. We remain committed to building a marketplace where opportunity is open to all, and businesses can grow with confidence.”
Since entering the East African market in 2019, Jiji has grown steadily into a trusted platform used by millions. The marketplace now operates across several countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Nigeria, connecting people to buy, sell and expand their businesses.
Today, Jiji attracts more than 12 million unique users every month, a clear sign of its strong role in Africa’s digital economy.
The award comes at a time when online trade across Africa is expanding rapidly. Market Data Forecast estimates that Africa’s e-commerce market was valued at USD 1.40 billion in 2024 and could grow to USD 5.76 billion by 2033.
This growth reflects changing consumer habits and increasing trust in digital platforms.
As e-commerce continues to reshape how Africans trade and connect, Jiji is positioning itself at the centre of that transformation. By linking buyers and sellers across the continent, the platform is helping unlock new opportunities and shaping the future of digital commerce in Africa.
