
For many years, Martin, a 37-year-old man from Kisii County, lived with a pain he could not explain. Every time he married, the marriage lasted less than a month. His wives always left suddenly—some packed and went back to their parents, others simply disappeared without saying a word.
It did not matter how good he was or how much effort he put into the marriage. Martin treated his partners with respect, provided for them, and tried to build a peaceful home. But still, each relationship collapsed so fast that people around him began to whisper.
Some neighbours even claimed he was cursed. Others said he had a “dark shadow” that chased away women. Martin tried everything—church counseling, reading books, talking to friends, even changing his behaviour—but nothing worked. With every failed marriage, his confidence broke more and more.
