  • President William Ruto praises UDA’s performance in the November 27 by-elections.
  • Claims broad-based government won all seven contested seats.
  • Criticises the opposition for relying on slogans instead of policies.
  • Urges leaders to focus on development and national unity.

President William Ruto criticised the united opposition following the Thursday, November 27, by-elections, in which UDA and ODM parties won most seats.

Speaking in Limuru during the launch of the Rironi–Mau Summit Road in Kiambu County on Friday, November 28, 2025, Ruto claimed his government had achieved a clean sweep.

“Jana kulikuwa na uchaguzi Kenya. Kati ya viti saba, yote ilishindwa na broad-based government,” he told the crowd.

Ruto highlighted constituencies including Mbeere, Kasipul, Banisa, Baringo, and Malava as examples of the government’s electoral success.

The President accused opposition leaders of using empty slogans rather than presenting real policy solutions.

“Unajua kuna watu Kenya hii wamezoea maneno bure. Watasema Wantam, Kasongo na Must Go. Hawajui mambo ya barabara. Hawajui highway itajengwa namna gani. Hawajui mambo ya SHA,” he said.

He warned that voters would ignore leaders who focus on protests and chants without clear development plans.

“Wanajaribu kutuuzia uoga. Mimi niliwaambia juzi, wasipotafuta sera, watachelewa,” Ruto added, insisting that proper planning, not noise, wins elections.

The President noted that his administration had already delivered a clear manifesto, which the by-election results reaffirmed.

“Mimi niliwapea ilani na wananchi wamerudia jana,” he said.

Despite his sharp critique, Ruto urged leaders to engage in dialogue and focus on development rather than division.

“We don’t want a divided country. Tell us your agenda. We are discussing the generation and the people,” he said.

The President’s remarks come as his administration seeks to draw a contrast between policy-focused governance and opposition tactics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
