The family of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga has released the official burial schedule, confirming that his final wish was to be laid to rest within 72 hours of his passing.

According to reports, Raila’s family informed President William Ruto of the request, emphasising that the former Prime Minister’s will clearly stated his burial should not be delayed.

At 1 a.m., the Kenyan delegation will arrive in Mumbai, India, to oversee the repatriation of the body.
By 2 a.m., the plane carrying Raila’s remains will depart for Nairobi.

The flight is expected to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

From the airport, the body will be taken to Lee Funeral Home for brief preparations.

Later in the day, a procession to the State House will take place at 12 p.m., followed by a ceremonial tribute in Parliament starting at 2 p.m.

A public prayer service will be held at Nyayo Stadium on Friday morning, where leaders and citizens will gather to celebrate Raila’s life and legacy.

After the service, the body will be transported to Kisumu and later to Bondo, accompanied by family, close friends, and dignitaries.

On Saturday, the late Raila Odinga will be laid to rest at his Opoda farm in Bondo, Siaya County, the place he long called home.

The burial will mark the end of an era for one of Kenya’s most iconic political figures, whose courage, reform spirit, and leadership left a deep mark on the nation.

His legacy will live on through the democratic ideals he fought for and the countless lives he inspired.
