  • IEBC kicks off continuous voter registration on September 29, 2025.
  • The official launch took place in Kajiado County before spreading nationwide.
  • The target is set at 6.3 million new voters before the 2027 elections.
  • Registration available at IEBC offices and Huduma Centres.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has resumed voter registration after a three-year pause. The process, officially launched in Kajiado County on September 29, will now be carried out in all constituencies across the country.

Voter registration was last stopped in June 2022, just before the August 2022 General Election.

IEBC says the fresh drive is aimed at enrolling 6.3 million new voters. This includes young Kenyans who have recently reached the voting age of 18, those who never registered before, and individuals who want to transfer their details to new polling stations.

Commissioner Alutalala Mukhwana, speaking during an interview on Citizen TV’s DayBreak show, said Kenyans can now register at IEBC constituency offices and Huduma Centres countrywide.

“This launch marks the beginning of continuous voter registration. From today, every one of the 290 constituencies has an open IEBC office where Kenyans can register,” Mukhwana stated.
