  • Ten suspects arrested in Matungu after last week’s attack on Emakale Police Post.
  • Public documents and a police officer’s belongings were destroyed during the incident.
  • Arrests were made in a joint operation by Matungu Police and DCI officers.
  • Police warn stern action will be taken against attacks on government facilities.

Last week, Emakale Police Post in Matungu Sub-County came under attack. During the incident, public documents were destroyed while personal belongings of a police officer were vandalised. The act forced security agencies to begin a manhunt for the culprits.

Today, officers from Matungu Police Station, led by the Officer in Charge of Station (OCS), together with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), carried out a joint operation that led to the arrest of ten suspects. The individuals are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court in the coming days.

Following the arrests, the National Police Service (NPS) issued a stern warning.

“Attacks on police facilities, destruction of government property, or obstruction of officers while on duty will not be tolerated,” NPS stated.

Authorities further emphasised that such acts of lawlessness will be met with firm and decisive action to safeguard public order and protect state institutions.
