  • Embassava Sacco driver Jared Nyanduro was arrested after violent confrontation.
  • First attacked traffic officer Jackline Naeku, who flagged him down.
  • He sped off, caused accidents, and later beat the officer, injuring her.
  • Public members rescued the officer before police intervened.
  • At the station, Nyanduro bit another officer during a search.
  • Both injured officers were hospitalised as Nyanduro awaits arraignment.

Chaos started when traffic officer Jackline Naeku flagged down an Embassava Sacco matatu in Nairobi. She discovered the vehicle had no road service license and instructed the driver, Jared Nyanduro, to drive to Embakasi Police Station.

Instead of following her orders, Nyanduro defied her, saying they would “die inside the vehicle.” He then sped off recklessly, hitting another vehicle and crashing into flower vases near the Rubis Police Station.

During the commotion, Officer Naeku suffered injuries. Matters turned worse when Nyanduro alighted and physically assaulted her, landing blows and kicks that left her with injuries on her eye, ribs, collar bone, leg, and even a bite wound on her hand.

She was saved by members of the public, who also helped in subduing the driver until police arrived to arrest him.

Nyanduro’s violent streak continued at Embakasi Police Station. While being searched, he turned on another officer, Senior Sergeant Samuel Njuguna, and bit his hand. The officer’s colleagues quickly intervened and restrained the driver.

Both Naeku and Njuguna were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Nyanduro is being held in custody and will face charges in court.
