Enock Andanje, a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election, collapsed on Friday, August 15, while attending a widows’ empowerment forum in West Kabras.
The event was also attended by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who paused the session to announce the tragic news to attendees.
Attempts to revive Andanje at the venue were unsuccessful. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that he had passed away.
Authorities have said that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The Malava by-election was called following the death of former MP Malulu Injendi. Enock Andanje had declared his intention to seek the UDA party ticket in the upcoming primaries.
His sudden demise leaves the race open and sends shockwaves through the local political community.
