  • Gachagua expected back in Kenya on August 21, 2025, landing at JKIA at 12:00 noon.
  • Malala claims there’s a plan to abduct and silence him upon arrival.
  • Alleges scheme to divert his plane to Kisumu or Mombasa.
  • Warns of mass mobilisation if the plan is carried out.
  • Says supporters will respond with “defiance” rather than silence.

Deputy Party Leader of the DCP, Cleophas Malala, has announced that Rigathi Gachagua will land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Thursday, August 21, 2025. His arrival is set for exactly midday.

Highlights from U.S. Visit

While in the United States, the former Deputy President met with Kenyan communities in Seattle, Boston, Dallas, Kansas City, and Baltimore. He also opened DCP satellite offices in several states, including Texas and Washington.

Claims of a Hostile Reception

Malala alleges that the Kenyan government is planning to abduct, intimidate, and confine Gachagua to his home upon arrival, effectively stopping him from addressing the nation.

He warned that unlike during Gachagua’s impeachment, when the former DP urged supporters to remain calm, this time the response would be stronger and more defiant.

Accusations of Flight Diversion

The DCP official further claimed that Nelson Koech, Chair of the National Assembly Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee, has revealed a plan to divert Gachagua’s plane to either Mombasa or Kisumu airports.

Malala said such a move would inconvenience passengers, harm Kenya’s international image, and provoke a mass show of resistance from party supporters in both cities.

“We Will Not Be Intimidated”

“Our message is clear,” Malala stated. “If they divert the plane, we will turn those airports into seas of DCP colours and defiance.”
