  • David Owuor, a brilliant scientist with a PhD in molecular biology, left his career to become a prophet.
  • He studied at the University of Nairobi, earned scholarships abroad, and worked in the USA.In 2003, he claimed God called him through dreams to preach the gospel.
  • He returned to Kenya and started a ministry, drawing large crowds and controversy.

David Owuor was born in Goma village, Siaya County. From a young age, he was known for his intelligence and love for science. He studied at the University of Nairobi alongside MP Gideon Ochanda and graduated with a degree in Agriculture.

Due to his brilliance, he received a scholarship to study in Israel where he pursued advanced degrees, eventually earning a PhD in molecular biology. His field of expertise led him to cancer research and lecturing positions in the United States.

In 1999, Owuor was living a successful life as a scientist in the US. But by 2003, everything changed. According to him, he began receiving visions and dreams in which God commanded him to leave science and dedicate his life to spreading the gospel.

Although he initially resisted, he eventually gave in to what he described as a divine calling. He quit his job and returned to Kenya, leaving behind a lucrative career.

After coming back home, Owuor launched his ministry and declared himself a prophet of God. He claimed to possess healing powers including the ability to cure HIV/AIDS.

These claims brought him widespread attention. Some Kenyans believe he’s a true prophet, while others view him with scepticism. Despite the controversy, his ministry has grown significantly, drawing thousands to his crusades and gospel events.

David Owuor’s journey from a respected scientist to a controversial preacher shows how deeply personal faith can change the course of one’s life. Whether seen as a prophet or a polarising figure, his story remains one of Kenya’s most dramatic transformations.
