  • Morara Kebaso promised to refund Kenyans who contributed to his civic education campaigns.
  • The activist had raised funds following the 2024 Gen Z protests.
  • Accusations of receiving a government bribe forced him out of politics.
  • He now seeks to clear his name by returning the donations.

Morara Kebaso, a popular activist who once aimed for the 2027 presidential race, has announced that he will refund Kenyans who contributed to his civic education campaigns.

Following the 2025 Gen Z protests, Kebaso launched countrywide awareness drives aimed at educating citizens on government accountability. Many Kenyans sent him money to help cover fuel and logistics as he toured counties, highlighting failed projects under President Ruto’s administration.

Kebaso’s rising influence took a hit when online allegations emerged suggesting he had accepted a bribe from the government. The backlash intensified after he made statements perceived to be supportive of President Ruto.

Amid mounting criticism, the activist announced his withdrawal from active politics and went silent for weeks.

In an unexpected move, Kebaso has now decided to refund all well-wishers who supported his campaigns financially. He said this was a way of maintaining integrity and transparency following the controversy that forced him to quit.

“I never intended to betray anyone’s trust. Those who supported my civic mission deserve clarity and closure,” Kebaso said.

Details on the refund process are expected to be shared through his social media platforms in the coming days.
