A Kisumu man has become the talk of the town after staging a personal protest involving a hunger strike and daily crying sessions, claiming betrayal by his KMTC (Kenya Medical Training College) girlfriend.
The man, whose name has not been disclosed, is said to have been a dedicated partner who financed his girlfriend’s entire college education, paying for tuition, rent, and her general upkeep. He reportedly saw the relationship heading toward marriage and hoped to make her his second wife.
However, his dreams were shattered when she blocked him from attending her graduation ceremony and severed all contact with him. Reports suggest she is now involved with a younger Gen Z man, whom she intends to marry.
Unable to cope with the emotional fallout, the devastated man now spends 47 minutes daily crying and has declared a hunger strike. He has publicly urged the Kenyan government to criminalise what he calls “romantic fraud” situations where one partner gives long-term financial support only to be dumped once the other succeeds.
“There should be a law. You can’t just use someone’s love and money, then walk away without consequences,” the man reportedly lamented.
