- Gachagua admits he and Ruto launched road projects with no budget or intention to build.
- They used hired tractors for show, then returned them after media coverage.
- Exposé sheds light on why many road projects in Kenya remain stalled.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made a shocking confession, revealing how he and President William Ruto used to deceive Kenyans by launching fake road projects across the country.
According to Gachagua, the duo knowingly faked project launches, complete with hired tractors and media coverage, only to abandon the sites shortly after the cameras left.
“We had no money, no budget, but we still went and launched roads. We’d hire tractors, pose for cameras, then return the machinery and fly back to Nairobi,” Gachagua confessed.
He explained that after the flashy launches, the contractors and equipment would be withdrawn immediately leaving nothing behind but empty promises. The practice, he says, was all about public relations and political image-building.
Why So Many Roads Are Stalled
Gachagua’s exposé provides a possible explanation for the large number of incomplete or abandoned road projects across Kenya. Residents in several counties have long complained about roads that were launched with fanfare but never completed.
The revelation is expected to spark further public outrage and raise questions about government accountability and misuse of taxpayer trust.
