- Man confesses to killing and cooking his wife in Sungubo village
- Children unknowingly fed her remains
- He had a past murder case involving a former wife
- One of his daughters is reportedly pregnant by him
- Villagers took justice into their own hands, ending his life
What started as whispers in Sungubo village, Kisii County, quickly turned into a scene of horror after a 50-year-old man, Stephen Onserio, confessed to murdering his wife, cooking her body, and feeding it to their children.
His confession was made in front of shocked locals who had grown suspicious following the sudden disappearance of the woman.
According to Nyamache OCPD Kipkulei Kipkemoi, curious residents had confronted Onserio and demanded to know where his wife was. He led them to his house, where body parts believed to be hers were discovered.
“It’s the villagers who raised the alarm after noticing she was missing. When they got to his house, they found the remains,” Kipkemoi said.
More chilling is that Onserio wasn’t a stranger to violence. Authorities say he had been arrested back in 2007 for killing his first wife, but he was mysteriously released two years ago. Since then, he had developed a reputation for being strange and dangerous.
In a sickening twist, one of his daughters is believed to be pregnant, with neighbours saying he is the father. The girl has since been rescued and taken to safety by community members.
Once villagers uncovered the horrifying truth, anger exploded. They beat him senseless and set him on fire, killing him before police could arrive. The act of mob justice has again stirred debate about community frustration with slow legal systems.
