- The Ministry of Health has confirmed the placement of over 6,000 interns in hospitals across the country.

The Ministry of Health has kicked off this year’s internship program by assigning 6,484 interns to health facilities around the country. Health CS Aden Duale made the announcement, saying it’s part of the government’s plan to grow a strong and capable health workforce.
Each intern will go through a full year of supervised training in hospitals, with the aim of giving them real-life clinical experience. The placements are spread out across different cadres, including doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, and clinical officers.
Numbers by Profession
According to the Ministry, this year’s batch includes:1,147 Medical Officer interns87 Dentist interns, 500 Pharmacist interns, 659 Bachelor of Science Clinical Officer interns, 1,993 Diploma Clinical Officer interns, 2,098 Bachelor of Science Nursing Officer interns
These placements are expected to boost service delivery, especially in rural or underserved counties.
All selected interns must pick up their posting letters in person on Monday, June 30, starting at 9:00 a.m., from Afya House in Nairobi. A valid national ID will be required. The Ministry is urging interns not to delay, so they can report to their assigned stations without issues.
CS Duale reminded the interns that this is a key moment in both their careers and the country’s health journey. He encouraged them to stay committed and professional, adding that their contribution supports Kenya’s push for Universal Health Coverage.
