Tension has gripped parts of Migori County after the body of a woman, yet to be identified, was found on Thursday morning near River Kuja close to Gogo Power Station in Uriri.
According to local administrator Charles Onindo, residents raised the alarm after spotting the body partially hidden with banana leaves near the edge of the river.
Authorities believe the woman may have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the river to cover up the crime.
“The situation looks suspicious. This doesn’t appear to be an ordinary drowning,” said Assistant Chief Onindo, adding that early signs point to possible murder.
Body Moved to Mortuary for Examination
Police removed the body and took it to a nearby mortuary. A postmortem will be conducted to find out what exactly caused her death and when it occurred.
Investigators are urging the public to come forward with any leads that may help identify the woman or give insight into what might have happened.
For now, detectives continue to piece together clues as they try to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death.
