Al Duhail have officially announced the departure of Kenyan striker Michael Olunga, bringing an end to a successful chapter that began in January 2021. In an emotional farewell message, the Qatari club praised Olunga for being a true professional and a role model on and off the pitch.

“Thank you, Olunga. You will always remain an inseparable part of the Al Duhail family,” the club stated in their tribute shared on Thursday.

Olunga arrived from Kashiwa Reysol in Japan and quickly made his mark. Over the years, he became one of the most feared forwards in Qatar—netting a total of 135 goals in all competitions and leading Al Duhail to several trophies.

A Legacy Written in Goals and Glory

During his time at the club, Olunga lifted the Qatar Stars League title (2022–2023), Qatar Cup (2021–2022), and multiple League and Stars Cups. He also emerged as the league’s top scorer in back-to-back seasons and shone brightly in Asia—topping the 2020–2021 AFC Champions League scoring charts with 9 goals.

In the recently concluded 2024–2025 season, the 31-year-old bagged 12 goals and 2 assists in 19 league matches, helping Al Duhail secure a second-place finish behind Al Sadd.

Taking to social media, Olunga penned a powerful farewell note:
“VENI VIDI VICI. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING @DuhailSC. LEAVING AS ALL-TIME GOAL SCORER 130 GOALS AND MEMORIES.”

With the team now entering a new phase following coach Christophe Galtier’s exit, focus now shifts to where Olunga will head next. Sources link him to big moves, including potential stints in South Africa or even the English Premier League.
