  • Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has declared himself as Kenya’s best bet for leadership in 2027.
  • The youthful leader believes Kenya needs bold, fresh ideas to tackle current challenges.
  • He plans to launch a people-driven political movement ahead of the polls.

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has once again made his presidential ambitions clear, saying he is the right person to steer Kenya into the future. Speaking through his X account on Wednesday, May 14, Salasya confidently stated that he is the leader the country needs in 2027.

“I am the anointed one to lead us forward,” he posted, emphasizing the importance of youthful and fearless leadership in shaping Kenya’s next chapter.

Youthful Aspirant Eyes 2027 Presidency

The 35-year-old legislator had earlier announced his plan to contest the presidency in the 2027 general elections. During an address on April 28, 2025, he confirmed that he would be running under a new political outfit aimed at shifting Kenya’s political foundation.

In his words, the upcoming party will not follow the usual tribal and money-based politics, but instead be driven by the strength of ordinary citizens.

New Political Movement in the Works

Salasya said he will soon unveil the name and leadership of his political vehicle. He promised it will stand for inclusivity, fairness, and will not be shaped by financial influence or tribalism.

“This movement will rise from the people, not from boardrooms or tribal gatherings,” he affirmed.

Healthcare Reforms Among Top Priorities

If elected, Salasya says one of his key goals will be fixing Kenya’s healthcare system. He plans to reorganize the Social Health Authority (SHA) and clean up issues surrounding NHIF.

“I will align healthcare with real public needs and eliminate wastage and corruption in health funds,” he said, promising openness and integrity in service delivery.

War on Corruption and Transparent Governance

On the fight against corruption, the Mumias East MP made it clear that there will be no tolerance for public theft. He plans to strengthen anti-graft bodies and digitalise procurement to ensure traceability and openness.

“Corruption is economic sabotage, and those who loot public resources must face justice swiftly and fairly,” he warned.

Youth Empowerment and Education Pledges

Salasya outlined major plans to invest in education and the youth. These include expanding TVET institutions, boosting digital literacy, and making it mandatory for all government offices to offer internships and graduate training opportunities.

“No young person should sit at home jobless while their degree gathers dust,” he stated.

Gen Z Advisory Council on the Cards

In a bold and unique idea, Salasya said he will set up a special Gen Z Advisory Council. The aim is to ensure young people’s opinions are reflected in national policies.

“This will be the first presidential advisory team made up of Gen Z voices,” he noted.

Defending Freedoms and Rule of Law

He also made strong promises to uphold justice, digital rights, and civil liberties. Salasya committed to end police brutality, protect free speech, and ensure laws apply equally to all citizens, regardless of background.

“No Kenyan should suffer injustice due to tribe or status. My government will be fair to all,” he concluded.
