Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has lashed out at President William Ruto for going against the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) agreement by appointing IEBC chairperson and commissioners without consultations. Kalonzo sees this move as a direct attack on Kenya’s democratic progress.
“We Won’t Accept a Biased Referee,” Kalonzo Warns
Speaking at the burial of Kariobangi North MCA Joel Munuve in Kitui County, Kalonzo stated that the opposition will not watch silently as the electoral system is manipulated. He added that he had formally written to both Ruto and Raila Odinga, raising concerns—but got no reply from either leader.
Ready to Face Ruto in 2027, Regardless of IEBC
In a defiant tone, Kalonzo declared his full readiness for the 2027 presidential race, even if Ruto chooses the referee himself.
“Even if he makes himself IEBC chair, Kenyans will still reject him at the ballot,” Kalonzo said.
He insisted that power must remain with the people and not be twisted by political games.
Opposition Questions Cause of MCA Munuve’s Death
Kalonzo also spoke on the mysterious death of MCA Munuve, saying that despite the autopsy pointing to a blood clot, the opposition has sought further tests from international labs to uncover the full truth. He assured supporters that they would not let any political assassination go unchallenged.
Wamalwa Backs Kalonzo, Accuses Ruto of Betrayal
DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa joined Kalonzo in condemning the president’s actions, saying Ruto has betrayed the spirit of dialogue that came from the Bomas talks. He warned that bypassing agreements only fuels national tension and erodes trust in leadership.
