- John Musambi Otsola alias O’Shea was a midfielder at Solofa FC and Nairobi based Blue Nile FC.
A sombre mood has engulfed Harambee Village in Matungu,Kakamega County, the home area of the late John Musambi Otsola alias O’Shea who Suddenly passed away on Friday 25th 2025.
The late O’Shea played as a midfielder at Matungu based Solofa FC before joining Blue Nile FC based in Nairobi.
Led by the Matungu Sub County FKF Chairman,Jaffary Namatsi,the football fraternity mourned O’Shea as one of the best players produced by the Bulimbo Talent Management Academy (BUTAMA).
John O’Shea was also remembered as a creative midfielder during his time at High School where his name is still written in the books of Koyonzo and Makunda Secondary School.
The players fraternity was represented by Bungoma Superstars FC playmaker Fredrick Sudi Masoso who named O’Shea as one of his mentors in the football industry.
“I witnessed O’Shea playing during my early days which motivated me to join the beautiful game.I have lost a friend, mentor and teammate,” stated Masoso.
After the burial ceremony,the two team that John O’Shea played for, Solofa FC and Blue Nile FC took part in a charity match which signified the final journey of the decorated midfielder.
The late’s home team Solofa FC emerged with 2-1 win at the gane that was staged at Bulimbo Primary grounds.
