Panic gripped Bur Abor village in Mandera on Tuesday, April 29, after a morning assault claimed the lives of five quarry workers. The victims, all non-locals, were ambushed while working at a local quarry in what authorities suspect was a targeted attack by Al-Shabaab militants.
Authorities Confirm the Incident
Village Administrator Mohamed Abdiaziz Roble confirmed the incident and issued an official update. According to his brief statement, the attack took place shortly after 7 AM, leaving five individuals dead on the spot.
“At approximately 7:00 AM on 29th April 2025, a tragic security incident occurred in Bur Abor village, resulting in the deaths of five non-local individuals who were working in a local quarry,”
Fear Spreads Across the Village
The sudden violence has left residents terrified, with many expressing fear over possible follow-up attacks. Roble acknowledged the rising anxiety in the community and assured the public that measures are being put in place to safeguard them.
