Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has revealed that the government has finally secured ownership of the building housing Kenya’s High Commission in London. After decades of paying rent, the property will now receive a complete upgrade to reflect its new status and importance.
New Look, Renewed Presence
Speaking during his visit to the mission, Mudavadi shared the positive development with staff, confirming that renovation plans are in motion. The building will be revamped to match Kenya’s diplomatic ambitions on the global stage.
Pushing for Stronger Kenya-UK Relations
Mudavadi noted that Kenya is aiming to enhance its relationship with the United Kingdom, transitioning the bond into a strategic partnership. This elevation, he said, will open new doors for collaboration in trade, diplomacy, and mutual development.
Promoting Kenya Abroad
In line with these ambitions, Mudavadi challenged embassy staff to go beyond routine duties and become ambassadors for tourism and investment. He pointed out that shifting global trade trends make Kenya — and Africa at large — increasingly attractive for business.
“I encouraged the team to be vocal and visible in showcasing Kenya as a top-tier investment destination,” he remarked.
Boosting Diplomatic Support Through Budget Inclusion
The Prime CS also highlighted a recent decision by the Cabinet to include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Security budget cluster. This move, he said, would help stabilize funding and improve the welfare of Kenyan missions abroad.
By prioritizing its diplomatic infrastructure and influence, the government hopes to create stronger connections that will benefit the country economically and geopolitically.
