During his address to a joint session of Congress, former President Donald Trump took a moment to recognize DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor, for his resilience and dedication to law enforcement.

DJ, who was dressed in a Houston police uniform, sat with his father in the House of Representatives gallery as Trump recounted his incredible journey.

“In 2018, DJ was diagnosed with brain cancer. The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago,” Trump said, receiving loud applause from the room.

From Honorary Officer to Secret Service Agent

Over the years, DJ has been sworn in as an honorary officer by multiple police departments, fulfilling his lifelong dream of serving in law enforcement. Trump took this recognition further by giving him a new title.

“Police departments love him. And tonight, DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”

Emotional Moment in Congress

As Curran handed DJ what appeared to be an official Secret Service credential, the boy’s eyes widened in disbelief. His father lifted him up as DJ proudly held up the badge for the crowd to see before wrapping his arms around Curran in a heartfelt hug.

The moment drew an emotional response from the audience, with applause filling the chamber as DJ celebrated his remarkable journey.
