Former Justice Minister Martha Karua has unveiled a major transformation for her political party, officially rebranding NARC-Kenya to the People’s Liberation Party (PLP). She stated that the shift is meant to modernize the party’s appeal, especially among younger voters.
“Our goal with this rebrand is to let people know that we are now the People’s Liberation Party, a party rooted in liberation,” Karua said.
The rebrand includes a fresh purple rose as the party symbol, replacing the former green rose. The new colours—purple, lilac, and white—symbolize love, friendship, and peace.
PLP’s new slogan, “Unite – Liberate,” underscores its mission to bring Kenyans together while advocating for democracy, accountability, and social justice.
Criticism of Government Policies
During the announcement, Karua condemned the Kenya Kwanza government’s introduction of fees for national ID cards, warning that the charges could prevent young Kenyans from accessing crucial services, including voter registration.
“This policy is a deliberate effort to lock out young people from shaping the future of this country,” she argued.
Party officials see this rebrand as a step toward greater political relevance, positioning PLP as a key player in the national political landscape ahead of the next elections.
