Popular senator-elect Karen Nyamu has promised to clarify allegations surrounding the auction of her household items over unpaid rent arrears. The politician took to X (formerly Twitter) to humorously respond to the circulating rumors while assuring her followers that she would provide a detailed explanation.
The mother of three shared how concerned individuals, including colleagues, questioned her financial habits after the allegations surfaced
“Unajua kwanini nacheka. Kuna colleague ameniuliza akiwa very concerned if im into casino gambling Ati pesa inaenda wapi. Tulia nitawapigia stor?” she wrote on X.
Adding a lighthearted touch, she reassured followers, “Calm down, I’ll call you a story.”
Reports had emerged earlier that brokers were preparing to auction Nyamu’s household items to recover unpaid rent amounting to Ksh. 1.25 million. A court order issued by Senior Milimani Magistrate A.H. Nyoike on November 13, 2024, sanctioned the recovery. The directive also instructed Runda Police Station to provide security during the process.
The court order stated:
“The officer in charge of the Runda Police Station or any other officer under his command shall provide assistance for the purpose of maintaining law and order.”
The household items in question are reportedly located at her home in Graceville Villas, Runda. Nyamu, however, has strongly opposed the auction plans.
