Football Kenya Federation Premier League debutants Mara Sugar have abruptly parted ties with technical director Bonface Ambani.
On Friday, the club announced on its Facebook page that it had decided to part ways with Ambani, citing a desire for a new challenge as the reason.
“We hereby announce end of engagement with our Technical Director Bonface Ambani. We thank him for his services and wish him success as he exits Mara Sugar FC for another challenge,” the club stated in a post.
Ambani might have departed without seeing most of his intentions for the club come to fulfillment, but the Mara Sugar community will remember him best for his involvement in securing promotion to the first tier.
Mara won the National Super League title last season and was promoted to the top tier alongside Mathare United, which finished second.
Besides the promotion to the top tier, the former AFC Leopards and Yanga SC striker helped put together a strong team that has so far punched above weight in the top tier.
Mara are currently placed second with 15 points, two behind log leaders KCB after eight rounds.
