A recent poll by research firm Infotrak, released on Wednesday, October 23, revealed the top heroes and heroines in Kenya. GenZ topped the list, followed closely by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, while celebrated athlete Faith Kipyegon also made it to the top ranks.
Gen Z emerged as the top-ranked group of heroes, with 23% of respondents acknowledging their role in addressing key societal issues such as environmental activism, social justice, and technological innovations. The report emphasized their growing impact on the nation.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was recognized by 18% of respondents as a hero, particularly noted for his influence in Nyanza (30%), his political stronghold. Raila’s contributions to political reforms and democracy also resonated with respondents in other regions like Western and Coast.
In third place was athlete Faith Kipyegon, who received 11% of the votes for her outstanding performance and achievements in athletics, bringing pride to the nation.
Several other prominent figures were also mentioned, including President William Ruto, impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, each receiving 8% support. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was recognized by 7% of respondents, while Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka garnered 5%.
Other individuals recognized include Morara Kebaso, Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge, and former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, each at 3%. Busia Senator Okiya Omtata received 2% of the votes.
Several leaders such as Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua were recognized at 1% alongside comedian Erick Omondi and other notable figures.
