  • Senator Okiya Omtatah strongly opposed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.
  • He claims the process was unfair and influenced by the President.
  • Omtatah believes Gachagua’s chances of survival, even through court intervention, are slim.

Senator Okiya Omtatah was among the few voices in the Senate speaking out in defense of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during his impeachment. According to Omtatah, Gachagua’s removal was politically motivated, driven by a desire from the President not to work with him.

In an interview with online media, Senator Omtatah admitted that he voted “No” against all the charges brought against Gachagua. He criticized the impeachment process as unfair and lacking in transparency, stating that Gachagua was not given a fair hearing. Omtatah argued that the reasons for impeachment were weak and appeared to be part of a broader political scheme orchestrated by the President.

Omtatah’s stance highlights his belief that the impeachment was less about legal violations and more about political differences. He also mentioned that while Gachagua could seek recourse in the courts, he doubts the outcome would be favorable, as the entire process seems to have been carefully planned against the Deputy President.

As Gachagua faces political uncertainty following his impeachment, Senator Okiya Omtatah remains one of the few who believe he deserved a fair chance. While Omtatah has voiced his concerns, he acknowledges that Gachagua’s battle may be uphill, even if he turns to the courts for help. The Senator’s criticism adds another layer to the ongoing political tensions surrounding Gachagua’s removal from office.
