Police FC coach Antony Kimani commonly known as Modo has said that as the team they understand the tough task awaiting them in Saturday’s CAF Confederations Cup tie against Zamalek SC of Egypt.The match will be staged at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi from 3 pm
The Ex AFC Leopards, Bandari FC and Ulinzi Stars coach underlined Zamalek are to be respected for their decorated history at the continentals, but is hopeful of a good show from his charges.
“We know how tough the game is likely to be. They are a very good side, five-time African champions but we have prepared well for the last two weeks. I believe we are ready for the tough task that lies ahead ,”said Kimani.
Coach Anthony “Modo” Kimani confirmed that midfielder Kenneth Muguna is still suspended, while Brian Musa is out with an ankle injury suffered during the first leg against Ethiopian Coffee.
“We have injuries but we also have enough depth and experienced players who will cover for them. The team is motivated ahead of the game and we know we will give our best,” added Kimani, who also revealed midfielder David Owino is still out with a knee injury.
Veteran defender David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng knows the importance of taking home advantage against the CAF Cup holders if they are to progress.
“We have to win at home. That is what normally happens in these kind of games if you want to advance. We will give our best at home, and go get a good result away. That is our prayer,” observed Cheche.
Police will face Zamalek a day before Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia’s clash with another Egyptian giant Al Ahly, at the same venue in the CAF Champions league competition.
