Simon Njogu, the parent of a student at a hillside school in Nyeri County, is saddened after searching for his son for 72 hours without seeing him after a fire broke out in the school, killing approximately 21 students and injuring others.
It is a situation that has caused sadness, particularly among parents and the nation as a whole. Njogu explains how he learned about the tragedy.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Njogu expressed his sadness at the loss of his son, Kelvin, while also stating that he is his first son in the family and has big expectations for him in life.
Njogu stated that he has yet to get any information about his son. In addition, the parent stated that he is open to any information regarding his son.
He expressed sadness that people have been visiting him to apologize for his son, even though he has not yet been located.
“Until now we don’t know where he is, people have been visiting my house to express their sorrow,” He said.
Njogu revealed how he has been restricting himself so that his son might study, particularly by denying himself food to earn his son Kelvin’s allowance.
At the moment, it is a mystery, with new questions for the family every day.
‘Why didn’t the bedroom have a guard or a matron so that we could see who was careless in his work?’ These are the questions that we are increasingly asking as parents.” Said the parent.
