First Year TUK Student Loses 50K Laptop Days After Purchasing It

Michael Kisiagi, a first-year Electrical Engineering student at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) got baptized by fire after he mistakenly left campus with his brand-new laptop to wander along Moi Avenue. He was quickly spotted by a thief, who could tell that Michael was in unfamiliar surroundings. The skyscrapers and tall buildings captivated Michael’s attention so much that it was easy to tell he had never been to Nairobi before.
Adorned in a black, body-fitting suit and a briefcase, the eagle-eyed thief approached Michael and greeted him politely. He then proceeds to tell him that he had a sick patient at Kenyatta Hospital and that he wanted to withdraw money via M-Pesa but forgot his National ID at the hospital. During their brief conversation, he had managed to convince Michael to hand him his phone, where he quickly pounced and saved his phone number as “M-PESA”. Michael received a confirmation message shortly after, having received “funds”, where the thief had cleverly added his own M-Pesa balance to the total. Eager to help, having been promised a “token of appreciation” he gave the guy his bag, as security and went to a nearby M-Pesa kiosk to withdraw.

He got an “insufficient funds” reply shortly after. After two more tries, both of which were unsuccessful, he returned to the spot where the man had been. At this point, you very much know, just like I do, that he was nowhere to be seen. He had left, alongside his 50k laptop that his uncle had bought him to help with his studies in campus. For more than an hour, he searched and searched in town, until he got lost!!

Eventually, he gave up. He called his uncle to deliver the bad news, crying and cursing the thief, who took advantage of his naivety. Luckily for Michael, his uncle called back a few moments later to tell him that a friend of his had sent him the contact of a traditional herbalist called Dr Mugwenu, who he recommended highly on cases of theft, burglary and scamming. Michael called Dr. Mugwenu, his voice trembling. He got the assurance that he was going to continue watching the movie he had downloaded, Tai Chi Master, on his laptop that evening. In other words, he would recover it, safe, complete and in its original form.
The thief, Mr. Reuben Kiura, called Michael less than half an hour later crying, saying that his head was spinning, his stomach twisting and turning and seeing visions of his dead grandmother. He returned his laptop and had to pay a hefty fine of Kshs. 65,000 to reverse Dr Mugwenu’s powerful spells. Michael went back to campus smiling, knowing that he had found a solution to any theft issues.
