FIFA Women’s Football For Schools and Football For Schools Event Makes It to Maralal, Samburu

A special joint program event, FIFA Women’s Football Campaign and Football For Schools, took place at Maralal Comprehensive School in Maralal, Samburu on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

More than 400 students from 20 schools participated in the event.The activities done included the distribution of footballs, life skills training, and engaging small-sided matches, providing both fun and competition for the participants.

Additionally,20 teachers and 10 community coaches benefited from a special CAF D course leading up to the event. These 20 teachers, all from the participating schools, were trained to ensure they can impart the correct football knowledge to students from their formative years.

By educating teachers and coaches, the program aims to develop better players and ensure a sustainable production of top talents across the country.

The Football for Schools program, under the Football Kenya Federation, prioritizes the growth of football knowledge among teachers. This initiative provides essential training to coach educators, fostering better player development. It also gives provision for the distribution of footballs equipment to be used for training programs in schools.

Teachers also have access to the Football For Schools application that they are able to use to impart life skills through their tailor made training sessions. This ensures that the students not only gain in football knowledge but also become all rounded human beings.

Through the Women’s Football Campaign program, 47 small-sided matches were held, allowing participants to enjoy and enhance their skills in a fun environment. This initiative aims to keep more girls engaged in football, contributing to increased female participation in the sport.

The FIFA Women’s Football Campaign is a global initiative aimed at increasing female participation in football and fostering the development of women and girls in the sport. It focuses on creating a structured pathway that nurtures young players, providing them with the necessary support and guidance to excel in football and pursue national team and professional opportunities in the future.
