Digital content creator and radio host Azziad Nasenya has come forward with claims that he is one of Kenya’s representatives going to Paris, France for the Olympic games.
This is after Kenyans accused the minister of youth affairs, sports and arts Ababu Namwamba for including his friends on the list instead of athletes.
Azziad’s name was included in the mix, and he gave an explanation to clarify the issue and its relationship with the document led by Namwamba.
Through his X page known as Twitter, Azziad denied the claims;
“I am not part of the Kenyan delegation to the Paris 2024 Olympic games. It is unfortunate that someone would come up with false allegations about such a matter. My involvement with the ministry of youth affairs, creative economy, and sports was about the technical committee of designers of Talent council, led by Daniel Ndambuki, AKA Churchill. I was elected and given the mandate to represent the youth in the technical committee. However, the committee was dissolved in June 2023. I have not been involved since then,” Azziad wrote.
Azziad’s statement comes amid pressure from some Kenyans to want Minister Ababu Namwamba to make public the list of non-athletes who will accompany the Olympic team to Paris.
Three Kenyans want the ministry to provide full details of the travelers, if they seek legal action. Charleen Njuguna, Jolly Lanji and Baverlyne Kwamboka, through their lawyers, have expressed their concern about the cost to Kenyan taxpayers.
Last week, when Ababu and President William Ruto bid farewell to the team at the State House, he confirmed that there will be no room for those who just go there to stay for no reason
