MP Farah Maalim is under fire following comments on the killing of 5,000 Gen Zs

Dadaab MP Farah Maalim is in trouble after alleged remarks that he would kill 5,000 Gen Z’s if he were the president.

Otieno Ogola & Company Advocates has issued a formal demand to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for immediate legal action against Farah Maalim.

This demand follows the circulation of a video and audio recording in which Mr. Maalim is allegedly heard inciting violence against young Kenyans.

In the communication addressed to the DCI Director, the advocates act on behalf of young Kenyans, particularly Generation Z, their parents, and the public interest.

The firm highlights that the recording shows Mr. Maalim branding young Kenyans as enemies of the state and threatening to kill at least 5,000 of them. These comments reportedly target youths exercising their constitutional right to peaceful demonstration, as protected under Article 37 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

Dr. Owiso Owiso, representing Otieno Ogola & Company Advocates, states that Mr. Maalim’s remarks constitute several criminal offences, including incitement to violence under section 96 of the Penal Code, threats to kill under section 223(1) of the Penal Code, and hate speech under section 13 of the National Cohesion and Integration Act, 2008.

Additionally, the utterances are said to violate the General Leadership and Integrity Code as per the Leadership and Integrity Act, 2012.

The letter demands urgent criminal investigation and prosecution of Mr. Maalim. Copies of this demand have also been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission.
