- In an unprecedented turn of events, Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday, June 4 unearthed a new twist regarding the death of Sharon Njeri, the wife of popular Kenyan entertainer, Michael Macharia Njiiri popularly known as DJ Brownskin
The video of Njeri, 33 wife committing suicide went viral on April 1, 9 months after her death. Njeri ingested poison as Brownskin recorded on a device between the nights of July 29 and 30, 2022.
“In a heart-wrenching videotape released by a popular blogger on April 1, 9 months after Njeri’s remains had been buried, her last moments were filmed by the DJ as she emptied a poisonous substance into a cup and ingested without hesitation.
“She then slumped on a couch and called her two children to inform them of her impending death. The mother of two collapsed and died shortly thereafter. She was buried at her parents’ home in Koimbe Weithaga village, Murang’a County, on August 6 last year,” read a statement by the DCI.
The DCI further established that Brownskin shared the torturing video with his other girlfriend abroad. It was that girlfriend who ‘sold him’ by forwarding it to the blogger who did the extras.
“Detectives have since established that after recording the ordeal, the suspect sent the video to his other girlfriend living abroad before the girlfriend went public with the information through the blogger,” added the DCI.
The entertainer was arrested on Madaraka Day moments past midnight after efforts to summon him proved futile. He is currently under police custody at Kasarani Police Station as detectives seek to prove the suspect guilty.
He will be charged with the offence of aiding suicide and failing to prevent the same contrary to Section 225 (C) of the Penal Code.
